Trekkin' ✿

I did the Trek!!! Yeah! I DID IT!
I was excited for it beforehand, because ultimately I knew the experience would be like none other...
Tuesday night, the night before Trek, Destiny and I spent the night at Sis. Englebrecht's house (she gave us a ride Wed. morning).
We stayed up late as to make a big deal at 12am for my B-Dayyy ;D (I'm so used to being a Baby though, it was weird being older than a lot of the youth on Trek). 4 o' clock rolled around and it was time to get ready to go.
The bus ride up was cool! We had awesome buses with comfy chairs and TV's!
I sat by Destiny, Lori, Mikayla, Danielle, and Danielle's little brother Christian.
We were so tired that the most we did was watch movies [Johnny Lingo!] and slept on each other.
When we arrived, we were first assigned families. My Ma and Pa were the Quintana's from the Denver 3rd (Mexican Speaking) Ward.
My Brothers and Sisters were:
Taianna (Green Valley)
Itcel (Denver 3rd)
TJ (Strasburg)
Richard (Sable)
Matagi (Green Valley)
John (Strasburg)
and Lori (Peoria)
Before we were assigned families, I was saying to Lori how cool it would be if we got the SAME family but I said it would probably be impossible (There were like 200 people!).
We got it!!! ツ

The First Day we were there, it rained AND hailed! [Thank-you God for giving us a tiny smidget of an example of a true, "pioneer trial"] This day had the shortest walk compared to the other days.
My family made me laugh SO MUCH! John is probably the funniest guy I know. At one point of the walk, Lani told told me to go ahead of our handcart with her. As Lani and I ran around them, I hear "Amber! Get back here and help push the handcart!", It was Richard (a.k.a. "Indian", he walked the entire Trek without shoes!). He yelled it so loud in a Scottish accent and everybody just burst with laughter.

Best Faux-Scottish Accent Ever.
Also, it could have been ANYTHING... the sun, the rain, the dirt, the mud, and Richard would say "Love it". For example: "Ah the rain... Love it". On the 2nd day, John did an impersonation of Richard and I almost peed my pants from laughing so hard. If the Trek didn't give me a 4-pack, John and Richard certainly did! The day ended with Hot Cocoa and Chicken Wraps. The people that were still up sang "Happy Birthday" to me. I was Wet, Cold, Dirty, and One Year Older.

Thursday was the first "physically" hard day.
We crossed a lot of puddles...
the word puddle is an understatement.
Mud puddle the size of a kiddie pool.
That day we had the "Women's Pull". THAT, was tough. I didn't cry when I was doing it or having done it, but I DID cry when I found out we had to pull the handcarts up that huge hill ourselves!
It was hard, but Sister Lee gave us a talk before we headed up, about how some of the Pioneer women had to do the Trek to Utah w/
out their husbands because they were at war. I thought about that as I pushed the handcart. I also thought about the women in the church now 'a' days. There are righteous women in the church that have inactive husbands and those women have to pull their own handcart every DAY just to stay faithful.
I now and forever want the priesthood in my life.
I can't wait to marry the man that I will be with for eternity so he can help me push my hand cart to Zion.

That night there was a "Square" Dance.
We combined with another stake that was also doing the Trek.
The dance was
short, but fun! ツ
That night the tents were verrry close on our campground,
so we could hear what other people were talking about!
It was muyy interesting! Hehe.

The 3rd day was the hardest of course.
There was knee deep mud puddles that got everybody dirrrty.
That night we had a very enlightening devotional from the guy who was Stake President in Wyoming at the time of the "2nd Rescue".
[One of the sisters in our stake is his daughter so we got the hook up!]
On the last day, we had a testimony meeting...
And out of like 12 people, I was one of them!
Then we packed up, took pics, and etc.
The bus ride back was crazy! Probably due to our sleep deprived minds...
The bus driver was really cool too, he got us all drinks and candy!
The drive home took longer than the drive up.

I walked 59 miles [or so Brother Russell says] in 3 days.
I LOVED the Trek.
I'll make sure I go again someday!
